xAI is preparing a range of significant updates for its Grok product. One of the key developments is an updated roadmap, where Elon Musk shared that Grok 3.5 will be released soon. This version is expected to deliver a major upgrade to the model’s capabilities. Looking further ahead, Grok 4 is also in the works and is planned for release later this year.

On the feature side, the mobile app is being enhanced to support a Vision feature in voice mode. Users will be able to share their camera or grant Grok access to it. This functionality will work similarly to features seen in products like ChatGPT’s voice mode or Gemini Live. Although still hidden from public view, the feature appears to be functioning well already. That said, xAI may take additional time to refine it, so a release date hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Currently it only has access to the camera. It seems there will be an option to control voice speed later as well. pic.twitter.com/xmjLjoAiNU
For Grok on the web, xAI is actively developing memory reference capabilities. This will allow Grok to recall and reference previous conversations, a feature already available in ChatGPT and Gemini. In addition, integration with Google Drive is underway, helping to close another feature gap.

A new image editing tool is also in development. Users will be able to upload an image, specify or choose certain aspects of their prompt, such as a desired style, and use Grok’s image generation capabilities to edit the image accordingly.

Grok Workspaces is still in development as well. While the core functionality is already in place, the xAI team is focusing on polishing the user interface. The feature could be released at any time.

Overall, it’s impressive to see how quickly the xAI team is moving to close the feature gap with other leading AI products. Exciting times ahead!
