Anthropic continues refining its writing styles feature, with the latest web update last week introducing enhanced description fields and UI components in the style creation interface. Now, it clearly states that users can create custom writing styles for Claude by either sharing samples of their writing or describing the desired style.
In general, there’s now an option to upload files containing example documents, posts, messages, etc., to be used for generating these custom styles. Users are encouraged to upload several paragraphs of example text from various sources, allowing Claude to analyze and match the style more accurately.
For those who prefer a different approach, it’s also possible to specify the style manually by filling in a prompt. Here, users define the target audience, a specific voice and tone, and even a comparable role for Claude to emulate.
This update is expected to make style creation more seamless, addressing challenges users face with Claude’s current writing output, which often lacks a humanized touch. Customization has been difficult, as users have to include a large prompt with every query. This new feature may leverage Claude’s advanced capability to analyze and reason through context, potentially leading to more natural, tailored writing results.
It will be interesting to see how Claude's implementation works in practice. However, a release date for the feature has not yet been announced.
