Telegram has introduced several new features, including the ability to send Gifts and a platform for businesses to verify customer phone numbers.

Gifts Feature

Telegram users can now send animated Gifts to friends, which can be displayed on profile pages or converted into Stars. Stars are a form of in-app currency that can be used to support creators or purchase services in mini apps. Users have the option to hide their names when sending gifts, though the recipient will still know who sent it. Telegram plans to enable NFT conversion for these gifts, allowing users to trade them outside the platform.

Verification Platform

The new verification platform allows businesses to confirm customer phone numbers via Telegram at a cost of $0.01 per user. This service is positioned as a faster, cheaper, and more secure alternative to traditional SMS verification methods. Businesses can send verification codes through Telegram, which users receive in a special chat.

Gifts, Verification Platform and More
Users can now send Gifts to their friends: the recipients of gifts can display them on their profile pages or turn them into Stars. Additionally, Telegram launched a platform for businesses to verify customer phone numbers: this new verification platform lets users easily confirm their phone numbers by receiving a code via Telegram and will cost businesses just $0.01 per user. We’ve also improved video chats, added new ways to report content on Telegram — and more.

Additional Updates

Telegram has also improved video chats on iOS for better performance and battery life and expanded its reporting menu to enhance content moderation capabilities.
