OpenAI’s not-yet-released SearchGPT has received a minor update. Users now see a separate button next to their profile, encouraging them to set SearchGPT as their default search engine. This button directs users to the Chrome Web Store, where they can find the SearchGPT extension. Once installed, the extension sets SearchGPT as the browser’s search engine.

However, 99% of users who haven’t received early access invitations to SearchGPT will encounter a waitlist screen when they try to search for something. It’s hoped that the rollout will accelerate, allowing more users to experience SearchGPT soon.

Currently, the Chrome extension shows only 61 installations. But given that this number isn’t updated in real-time, the actual number of users could be significantly higher by now.
