Perplexity is introducing a small feature to its pages functionality called “Emphasize Sources.” This feature allows page authors to choose whether they want to display the sources widget at the beginning of their posts. In this widget, readers can view a list of publications from the internet that were used to generate the content of the Perplexity page, as well as browse the full list of links. Previously, this feature wasn’t available.

If you browse the Discover feed, you’ll notice that most pages in the feed have this widget enabled. However, regular users still have the option to hide it.

Additionally, it’s important to note that articles published by users typically have indexing disabled, making it unlikely that they will be indexed by search engines. However, this is different for articles in the Discover feed, which are curated by accounts that collaborate with Perplexity. These accounts usually represent small and independent publishers. The details on this aspect are still unclear, but it’s something to keep in mind if you plan to use Perplexity for SEO optimization.
