Perplexity is testing broader topic coverage on its Discover feed for iOS

Perplexity recently updated its mobile app, introducing significant changes to the Discover feed. Users can now choose from various topics and categories using a new dropdown menu at the top. Previously, the Discover feed primarily featured tech-related articles targeting a tech audience.

With the update, sections for entertainment, economics, sports, art, design, science, and more have been added. The For You tab now offers a personalized mix of articles from the topics users select, along with the existing trending or most popular categories.

Selecting a new category reveals articles already available, all created by the Perplexity team, similar to the previous setup. These new articles currently have only a few views, but this is expected to increase over time.

Users are hopeful that user-generated content will be included in the future. Additionally, the update brings an improvement to pages: an audio mode that allows users to listen to page content, a feature that was not available before.

After several hours, this change seems to be pulled back and not available anymore. However, Aravind Srinivas also highlighted upcoming changes for the Perplexity Copilot on X. Possibly, Perplexity is aiming to release a bunch of changes to all their platforms at once.
