Perplexity recently introduced a series of significant enhancements to their platform. First of all, Gemini 2.5 Pro has been added to the model selector. Later this weekend, Gemini 2.0 Flash image generation also became available. This marks a major upgrade to the list of image generation models, as the best available option before was Flux 1.1. With native image generation, it becomes much easier to create meaningful illustrations for pages, especially because this new model handles text very well and has strong native image understanding.

In addition, voice mode has been added to the web platform. It appears in the same form as it does on the iOS app, with a futuristic sphere you can speak to. From there, users can select different languages and choose between various voice styles.
Perplexity is also continuing to improve its hotel reservation experience. This feature was launched recently, along with a new user interface and has been receiving ongoing enhancements. Now, it’s very easy to browse through discovered hotels, check availability, select a room, pick the number of people, and complete the reservation directly on the platform. These reservations are tracked in a dedicated “Reservations” tab, alongside shopping. For now, this experience is only available in the US.

Looking ahead, Perplexity is expected to release its Comet browser. While it may not happen as early as next week, it’s likely to arrive within the next couple of weeks, especially since the project was previously delayed. Let’s see how that unfolds.
