ICYMI: OpenAI closed SearchGPT waitlist after recent invite waves

SearchGPT

Recently, OpenAI closed the waitlist for SearchGPT on their website, meaning users who didn’t apply for early access can no longer submit their interest. For those who applied earlier, there was initial uncertainty about what would happen next. However, OpenAI later sent an email to these users, stating that they had filled all the testing slots for the SearchGPT prototype and had no plans to offer access to more users.

This means that many people won’t be able to try SearchGPT during its early phase, and it’s unclear what the future holds for this product. While some users reported getting access through various invite methods, many others didn’t have the chance, leading to overall negative feedback on social platforms. In hindsight, it might have been better for OpenAI not to communicate this update, leaving users with some hope. However, this is the reality now.
