NotebookLM seems to be working on two new features, with one related to audio overuse. On the main UI, there is a new icon with a tooltip suggesting that it will allow users to interact with audio overuse. After clicking, a separate pop-up opens with a “Connect” button.
The exact functionality of this feature remains unclear. However, considering that Audio Overview is the AI-generated voice podcast, users might soon be able to interact with this tool through voice. It’s even possible that users could participate in the conversation, which would be an extremely neat feature.
The second feature discovered is called Guidebook. This Guidebook essentially allows users to publish their notebooks and share them through a URL within the organization, as seen by reading descriptions within the UI. It’s very possible that this feature is set to replace the previous ChatBots feature. It offers a similar experience by enabling users to share notebooks without needing to invite others personally.
With this new feature, users can set a welcome message and decide if they want to show sources to other users. There’s also a tab called Dashboard, which might show statistics on notebook usage as gathered from others.
Both of these features are very exciting, and it will be interesting to see how long it takes until they are released to the public.
