Perplexity recently released an update for their iOS application featuring the updated voice mode. In general, the UI for the voice mode changed, featuring a sphere of many dots that users can also interact with. For instance, if you swipe over these, the dots will jump away and so on, creating a very nicely designed animation specifically for the voice UI. It feels very futuristic and well done.

And the best voice screen design I've seen so far 👀 pic.twitter.com/7xsnQa8nWV
Besides that, the voice mode now features six different voices. Previously, there were fewer options available. However, it is still a text-to-speech model, but it already has access to search functionality. You will see all the search results in the widget, which can also be opened, allowing you to directly go to specifically mentioned websites by opening them in the browser.
Beyond the voice mode update, users can also find personalization settings in the menu, where they can set a list of stock tickers or sports teams to appear on the home screen widget.

We've tested the model internally for some time now and have observed a noticeable improvement in agentic workflows and code generation.
