Microsoft keeps working on compiled characters. As discovered previously, these characters will be introduced as a new feature, allowing users to switch between them in the settings. Once selected, the chosen character will appear on the main screen. They are animated and also capable of speaking.

Initially, there were only two characters available: Mika and Aqua. Recently, a third character named Erin was found in the code. Erin appears to be a counterpart to Aqua and features a lava form. It is also highly likely that each character will have a unique voice, which would make the experience more diverse and engaging.

Another development is the integration of these characters into the voice screen, or voice mode. Microsoft is working on a dedicated setting for this in the Labs section of the settings menu. Previously, the feature was non-functional, but now it partially works. Users can see the character when entering voice mode, and there is a button to disable them if desired.

It was initially believed that this experience would first launch in Japan. However, it’s possible that Japan may only be used for internal testing, with a broader rollout to follow later.

Although the exact release date is still unknown, Microsoft has been teasing many upcoming features and has started releasing more of them recently. So, we might see official announcements about these characters very soon.

In addition, Microsoft recently released vision capabilities to Copilot on Android for Pro users in the US.
