Meta is rolling out voice conversations and expressive avatars in the Muse app, bringing the real-time experience previewed at Connect 2026 to mobile, the web and Mac. Users can begin talking by tapping the phone icon in the top-right corner. The release starts in the US, while voice conversations for AI Glasses and Muse Charm are coming soon.

Voice lets people think aloud instead of stopping to craft an exact prompt. A user can brainstorm, shape a half-formed trip plan, rehearse a job interview, run through a presentation or test a pitch while Muse responds in the moment. For travel planning, the conversation can begin with a desired city, the kind of place the person wants to wake up in or the meal around which the trip should be built. Muse follows the thread and works while the person is walking, making dinner or has their hands full, allowing tasks to continue in the background as they speak.

The avatar provides visual feedback throughout the conversation. It reacts while listening and speaking, using subtle expressions and gestures that match the tone so people can see that Muse is following along. Users can choose voice only, keep the avatar beside the conversation or switch it to full screen for a face-to-face format. They can also select from hundreds of voices, including styles with the energy of a New Yorker or the flair of a pirate, and change the choice at any time.

Meta says its Muse Realtime Avatar and Muse Realtime Voice technologies power the new mode. They support fluid, real-time conversations with immediate responses, and users can interrupt Muse when needed without ending the exchange. The rollout combines spoken requests, background task handling and a configurable visual presence, giving people a way to work through ideas or practice spoken scenarios wherever they are.
