Recently, OpenAI made a broader release of their improved memory feature called Moonshine internally, which allows ChatGPT to access information from past conversations. This rollout affected both Plus users and free users randomly, granting them access to this alpha functionality. The feature is now supported on both iOS and macOS applications, where users can go to the Settings menu to turn it on or off.

Regarding iOS updates, the latest iOS app now allows non-logged-in users to access ChatGPT, specifically enabling the search functionality. Buttons like Thinking and Voice Mode are also visible, but they prompt users to log in when clicked. This aligns with updates to the web application, where ChatGPT is also available to anonymous users.

For the ChatGPT macOS application, OpenAI is testing and preparing several changes for upcoming releases. One of the potential updates is replacing the transparent background with a white background. Additionally, they are experimenting with new tiles for tools like image creation and canvas, which differ from slash commands by being always visible.

Two new settings may also appear in the Settings menu, both related to suggestions:

  1. Option to turn off auto-complete.
  2. Option to turn off trending searches.

Overall, it appears that the improved memory feature is one of the key updates awaiting broader rollout, alongside the previously released Operator and Deep Search—still exclusive to Pro users. Another major update on the horizon is the anticipated release of the 4.5 model, which could potentially happen next week to compete with expected models from Anthropic.
