If you’ve been following AI developments in image generation, you might have noticed that recent models are focusing heavily on improving their ability to generate text accurately. This has been a challenging area for AI, but current frontier models like Imagen3 from Google, Flux, Leonardo Phoenix, and DALL-E 3 are now capable of generating fairly decent text, especially for logos or banners. However, these models still struggle with creating complex text, such as full paragraphs.

There’s been talk that the upcoming GPT-4o model updates may introduce multimodal capabilities, potentially allowing for more advanced text generation directly within images. But the timeline for this is still unclear. If you’re eager to have AI generate complex text, you should check out Ideogram.

Ideogram is a new platform for AI image generation that is also developing its own models. Currently, all users have free access to version 1, which includes 10 free generation attempts. It’s also worth noting that Ideogram is beta-testing its version 2 model. According to reports, this new version has significantly improved the quality of text generation, comparable to what OpenAI showcased earlier this year with GPT-4o. However, this beta is only available to a select group of Plus subscribers who are helping to test and improve the platform. While I’m not part of this beta, those who are involved have mentioned that the new model performs exceptionally well. Even in version 1, you can already see how well Ideogram handles text generation, on par with leading models in the field.

Beyond the new model, Ideogram is also working on several exciting features. An advanced search function will soon allow users to search for specific keywords within the image gallery and filter results by image style. You’ll also be able to sort images based on top creative scores.

Additionally, Ideogram is developing an affiliate program, which isn’t available yet but will allow creators to earn 10% of subscription income from referrals for the first six months.

There are also new features in the works for image generation. One notable addition is the Color Palette feature, which lets you select a set of colors, ensuring that the generated image adheres to your chosen palette.

The editor, available to Plus users, is also getting more features, including the ability to add layers of text or additional images on top of existing images and more.

Altogether, these features make Ideogram a product worth trying now and keeping an eye on as the platform continues to evolve, especially with the potential release of Ideogram 2.0 in the near future 👀
