It appears that Twitter got a quality filter feature for your notifications enabled by default some time ago. This filter affects all notifications that normally appear in your notifications tab and hides events from random accounts.
If you noticed that your followers count increased without you knowing who made a follow or if you don't see some threads and comments that you expect to be there, it is better to turn it off. The worst part is that it is also hiding some replies to your tweets.
In order to disable the quality filter:
- Open notifications tab
- Tap on the Settings icon on the top right
- Uncheck Quality filter checkbox
This setting is also global for your entire account and if you have it enabled in the app, you won't be able to see some notifications on the web version as well. While it could make sense to have it enabled for accounts with a big following base and high engagements, for the majority of users, missing one single reply could be a big deal.
Have you encountered this problem of missing notifications on Twitter as well?
