The recent update on Gemini for web came with an additional mention of a new release date, stating April 1st in relation to a potential model launch. Considering that April 1st is already in the past, it’s very likely, just like the March 18 launch, that the actual release might happen a week later, most likely on Monday or Tuesday next week.

The appearance of a new model tooltip suggests that a new model option will be added to the selector. However, it’s still unclear which exact model this will be, as there are several possibilities. New models listed on lmarena could potentially be from Google. Additionally, many different tools are currently in development on Gemini, which could arrive as new experimental options, similar to how the 2.0 Flash thinking-with-apps approach introduced models dedicated to specific use cases.
To recap our previous discoveries, there’s still a feature called scheduled prompts, which resembles the “tasks” feature on ChatGPT. There’s also a feature called creative partner, along with mentions of video generation. This could potentially be added alongside native multimodal image generation, allowing users to animate generated images using VEO 2.

Which of these options we’ll see next week remains uncertain. It’s also possible that something entirely unexpected will appear. Considering that the upcoming Cloud Next 2025 event is more focused on developer use cases, we may also see a "full" 2.5 Pro to be announced next week.
Let’s see 👀
