Google keeps working on new features for Gemini, and recently it has been discovered that Gemini will also get integration with GitHub. In addition to the already existing feature called Code Folder — where users can upload the content of a local folder to Gemini — it will soon be possible to connect a GitHub account and select a specific repository for Gemini to work with.

A similar feature already exists on Claude, and it seems like Google is gradually stepping into that space. When prompted, Google will offer to install a specific integration to your GitHub account or repository. Once installed, Gemini will be able to access its contents. Users will still have control and can choose which repositories to connect to.
One notable limitation is that users will only be able to upload either one GitHub repository or one local folder to Gemini at a time. This restriction is somewhat expected, likely due to performance and privacy considerations. Considering that the Cloud Next event is happening next week, it’s very likely that this feature may be released soon.
Veo 2 spotted on Gemini
In addition to the GitHub integration, Google is also preparing the rollout of Veo 2. Last week, several major creators were spotted with access to the model, which appears as a separate option in the model selector. Users can prompt Veo 2 and receive a generated video as a result, rather than just a text response. This approach is quite different from the previously anticipated feature of animating images through the Creative Partner tool.

It also seems that this will be the actual Veo 2 — not the downgraded version seen in YouTube Shorts, which has reportedly delivered poorer results in testing. Overall, Veo 2 remains one of the top-performing text-to-video and image-to-video models currently available. If this feature becomes accessible to advanced users, it could significantly increase the value of a Gemini subscription.
