Brave Browser has introduced the Bring Your Own Model (BYOM) feature in its Nightly builds. This feature allows users to connect their own AI models to Brave's AI assistant, Leo. This maintains user privacy while expanding the browser's capabilities.

The Brave Browser is available on Android, iOS, and Web platforms.

To reproduce the experience:

  1. Download and install the Brave Nightly build.
  2. Open the browser and navigate to the settings menu.
  3. Locate the AI assistant, Leo, and select the option to connect your own AI model.
  4. Choose between local models or remote models hosted by third parties.
  5. Configure the model according to your preferences.

Users can now link their own AI models to Leo, allowing for customized AI behaviour and output. This feature provides flexibility in how the AI assistant operates, catering to specific user needs. The Nightly builds, updated every night, offer the latest features and bug fixes but may also contain bugs that could result in data loss. These builds automatically send crash reports to Brave, aiding in quick issue resolution.
