SearchGPT

ChatGPT seems to be rolling out the integration of SearchGPT into the core ChatGPT app for iOS. The new search icon appeared in the text input, highlighting that the search functionality is now available. At first, I thought it was related to the existing search index through Bing, but after testing, I realized it’s more likely the full SearchGPT implementation.

This update appears to bring real-time search support, enabling various widgets like weather or stock charts, displaying images separately, and visualizing new layouts for news articles. This marks the first time this feature is being rolled out publicly.

Although it appeared to me without any modifications, it seems the rollout is US-specific for now. I accessed it using a VPN. Interestingly, I do not have access to this feature on Android or desktop, only on the web version, suggesting that it might be a device-specific experiment. Previously, reverse engineers had already discovered this search icon, but now it’s confirmed to be related to the SearchGPT integration, which had only been available in prototype form until now.
