The latest ChatGPT update for macOS and Windows desktop apps introduces Advanced Voice Mode to desktop users globally, a previously mobile-only feature. Now, AVM offers a compact, floating window experience instead of the previous full-screen design.

It replaces the main ChatGPT window rather than operating as a separate companion window, a notable shift from the early alpha builds. Additionally, a new voice setting appears in the menu, functioning as a shortcut to system voice settings on macOS rather than adding new, app-specific configurations.

While most features in this update are now available to users, Voice Clips remains in development. This feature would allow users to save short audio clips of ChatGPT interactions, capturing the last 25 seconds of conversation.

These clips, branded with a watermark indicating they were created with ChatGPT and linking to the app download page, are intended for easy sharing. However, the UI also appears incomplete, occasionally displaying as blank, signaling that it’s not quite ready for release.
