Anthropic is developing artifact support for their iOS Claude app. This new feature will provide a separate widget for chats containing artifacts, which will open a pop-up view. Users will be able to switch between preview and code modes within this view.
Currently, this feature is still under development and not available to end-users. Its release is highly anticipated because the existing iOS app from Anthropic lacks advanced functionalities compared to ChatGPT.
A key challenge will be supporting web-designed artifacts on the iOS app. Often, the code is written with the expectation of a physical keyboard. Therefore, artifacts might need explicit updates to work seamlessly on native apps. For example, a game like Snake would require on-screen manual controls to be added.
