Anthropic, an AI safety and research company, has recently expanded its GitHub integration for Claude to Pro, Free, and Team users; previously, this feature was exclusive to Enterprise customers. Since the summer, this expansion has enabled all users to connect their GitHub accounts through the settings. Once connected, users will notice a GitHub beta label in the prompt bar, allowing them to open the context menu, select repositories, and view their file trees. This functionality enables users to choose specific files to attach to the context, enhancing their workflow.

It’s important to note that utilizing this feature may consume a significant portion of the quota for free accounts, whereas Pro users are likely to find it more manageable. This GitHub integration is the second major addition for developers using Claude’s interface, following the earlier integration with Google Drive.
Beyond GitHub, Anthropic is actively developing additional integrations, including Google Calendar, Gmail, Salesforce, and Slack. These forthcoming features are expected to be initially available to Enterprise and Team accounts, with potential for broader access in the future.

Anthropic, founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees, is dedicated to creating reliable and interpretable AI systems. Their flagship AI assistant, Claude, is designed to be safe, accurate, and secure, assisting users in various tasks. Claude’s development emphasizes ethical AI practices, incorporating a framework known as “Constitutional AI” to align the system’s behavior with human values and ensure helpfulness, harmlessness, and honesty. This approach involves guiding the AI’s responses based on a set of principles, enhancing transparency and reducing reliance on human oversight.
In February 2025, Anthropic introduced Claude 3.7 Sonnet, the first hybrid AI model capable of combining instinctive output with in-depth reasoning to solve complex problems. This model allows users to adjust the degree of reasoning, balancing intelligence with time and budget constraints. Claude 3.7 includes a “scratchpad” feature that displays its reasoning process, aiding users in understanding and refining prompts.
Additionally, Anthropic is finalizing a $3.5 billion funding round, valuing the company at $61.5 billion. This significant investment underscores the growing interest and confidence in Anthropic’s approach to AI development and safety.
